The Hai Phong Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board initiated this competition. Its aim is to enhance the architectural space, create an artistic focal point, and promote the historical and cultural value of the Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem Temple relic.
Entries must fully depict the life, career, and legacy of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem across three main themes: 'Origin and Education', 'Trang Nguyen – Educator – Thinker', and 'Thought and Legacy'. A panel of 9 art experts, including sculptors and artists from the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and the Hai Phong Fine Arts Association, along with representatives from specialized agencies, will evaluate and select the winning designs.

The total prize pool includes a first prize of 50 million VND, a second prize of 30 million VND, and a third prize of 20 million VND. The creator of the first-prize-winning sketch will receive priority for completing phase two and constructing the 1:1 scale model. To encourage participants, the organizing committee will also provide a 10 million VND support payment for each valid, non-winning entry.
The period for confirming participation is from 19/8 to 24/8. Official competition entries will be accepted until 16:00 on 14/9 at the Project Management Board's headquarters, located at 30 Ly Tu Trong, Hong Bang Ward, Hai Phong City.
The Trang Trinh Temple complex, situated in Nguyen Binh Khiem Commune, features the main temple, Am Bach Van, Quan Trung Tan, the Kinh Thien pen tower, along with a system of village ponds, landscaped gardens, and a spacious festival courtyard. This layout recreates the living, teaching, and philosophical environment of the eminent 16th-century cultural figure.
On 17/1/2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 151, approving the plan for the preservation, renovation, and restoration of the special national relic Nguyen Binh Khiem Temple. This plan encompasses two component projects with 18 items.
