An Giang secretary Nguyen Tien Hai appointed acting minister of home affairs

Nguyen Tien Hai, a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, has been assigned by the Prime Minister to serve as acting minister of home affairs, replacing Do Thanh Binh who was transferred to another position.

On the afternoon of 21/7, the Prime Minister announced the decision to appoint Nguyen Tien Hai as acting minister of home affairs. Hai, 61, is from Ca Mau. He holds a master's degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree in law. He is a member of the Party Central Committee for the 13th and 14th terms and a delegate to the 16th National Assembly.

Hai began his career in youth union activities in the former Minh Hai province, serving successively as chairman of the provincial Youth Council, secretary of the U Minh District Youth Union, head of the Ideology - Culture Board of the Minh Hai Provincial Youth Union, deputy secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Youth Union, and chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial Youth Union Federation.

In 2001, he transitioned to work within the Ca Mau provincial government, holding various positions: chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office, secretary of the Cai Nuoc District Party Committee, director of the Department of Justice, vice chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, deputy secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

In 7/2020, he became secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee. In early 2025, the Politburo assigned him to be secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee. Following the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang in 7/2025, he continued to serve as secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee.

At the Party's 14th National Congress in January, he was re-elected as a member of the Party Central Committee. Three months later, he was elected as a delegate to the 16th National Assembly and chosen as head of the An Giang Provincial National Assembly delegation.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is a government agency responsible for state management functions related to administrative organization, local government, cadres, civil servants, public employees, labor, salaries, social insurance, employment, people with meritorious services, youth, gender equality, emulation and commendation, as well as clerical and archival work, among many other areas.

Assisting acting minister Nguyen Tien Hai are six deputy ministers: Vu Chien Thang, Truong Hai Long, Cao Huy, Nguyen Van Hoi, Nguyen Manh Khuong, and Nguyen Thi Ha.
