Ms. Quan Thi Yen prunes a peach tree recently brought from a garden in Moc Chau.
In recent years, due to shrinking agricultural land, An Duong residents have leased gardens in Moc Chau, Son La, to cultivate ancient peach trees there by grafting branches. During the Tet 2025 season, 300 peach trees from Ms. Yen's An Duong garden were completely lost due to Typhoon Yagi's devastation, leaving only 200 trees in Moc Chau as capital for rebuilding.
According to government statistics, the total annual income for 1,000 flower and ornamental plant growing households in the commune ranges from 80-100 billion VND, primarily generated during the year-end season. However, after Typhoon Yagi, 80% of the peach cultivation area in An Duong (formerly Dang Cuong commune) was completely destroyed by waterlogging.
