Around 2:30 AM, a fire erupted at a house spanning approximately 70 square meters on Street 36, Tan Hung ward. The blaze ignited furniture and motorbikes on the ground floor, burning fiercely.
With only one entrance and exit, smoke rapidly spread through the floors, trapping 4 people: two women, 32 and 34 years old, along with two children, 3-5 years old, who were sleeping upstairs. Nearby residents noticed the incident, shouted for help, and tried to extinguish the fire, but were unsuccessful.
Within about 5 minutes, two fire engines and 20 officers and soldiers arrived at the scene. Firefighters, wearing protective gear, used ladders to reach the upper floors, bringing the 4 people who were standing on the balcony to safety amidst the dense smoke. Many onlookers applauded with relief as the victims were rescued.
The fire was later brought under control and prevented from spreading to neighboring houses. However, it destroyed one motorbike, a bicycle, a computer, and numerous household items on the ground floor.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Department, the city has recently experienced several fires resulting in loss of life and property. These incidents are primarily due to carelessness during cooking, electrical faults, or improper use of heat sources. Residents should inspect electrical appliances before sleeping, keep flammable materials away from kitchens, and equip their high-rise homes with fire alarms, mini fire extinguishers, rope ladders, and smoke masks.
