Around 3:40 PM, a multi-vehicle accident occurred at Km560+400 on the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway, in Ky Van commune (formerly part of Ky Anh district). Four vehicles, including a truck, a five-seater car, and a pickup truck, traveling in the same direction, were involved. The four vehicles were pushed against the concrete median, completely blocking the right lane for northbound-southbound traffic.

The occupants of the four vehicles were uninjured and managed to exit on their own. The chain collision caused severe front-end damage to the truck, the five-seater car, and the pickup truck, with shattered glass scattered everywhere.
At the same time, also in Ky Van commune, about one kilometer from the first accident site, a Thanh Hoa-registered sleeper bus on the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway collided with a Ho Chi Minh City-registered container truck traveling in the same northbound-southbound direction. No injuries were reported, but the container truck's front was deformed, and the passenger bus's lights were broken.

The two consecutive accidents caused a traffic jam extending for about 5 km in the northbound-southbound direction on the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway, starting from nearly 4 PM. Traffic police, in coordination with other authorities, diverted traffic and guided vehicles onto National Highway 1. Tow trucks were dispatched to remove the damaged vehicles. After two hours, the scene had not yet been cleared.
According to the expressway's operating unit, at the time of the two accidents, there was light rain, but the road surface was normal, and traffic safety systems were adequate.
