Upon noticing the incident, the driver stopped the bus and attempted to extinguish the fire with an on-board extinguisher, but was unsuccessful. He then alerted passengers to evacuate the vehicle and tried to move luggage to the roadside.

Due to flammable materials inside, the fire quickly engulfed the bus. A column of smoke and flames rose tens of meters, burning several sections of roadside power lines.

The Vinh Long provincial fire police department arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control in nearly one hour. While there were no casualties, most of the bus was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
