Bus carrying 10 people catches fire on national highway through Dak Lak

A sleeper bus carrying seven passengers and three staff members caught fire unexpectedly on national highway 14, in Ea Hleo commune, on the afternoon of 30/7.

On the afternoon of 30/7, a bus belonging to the Danh Mui transport company, en route from Buon Ma Thuot to Hue City, suddenly caught fire on national highway 14. The vehicle was carrying seven passengers, two assistants, and was driven by Van Huu Thi, 52.

The incident occurred around 4:50 PM as the bus reached Hamlet 3, Ea Hleo commune. The driver noticed a burning smell and saw smoke emanating from the front of the vehicle, near the passenger seat. He promptly pulled over to investigate, and all passengers quickly evacuated the bus with their luggage.

The driver and assistants attempted to extinguish the flames using fire extinguishers, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Within 10 minutes, the fire had engulfed the front of the bus, sending thick black smoke billowing dozens of meters into the sky.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control after approximately 20 minutes. The bus's storage compartment contained over one ton of durian fruit, some of which was scorched. The vehicle owner confirmed that the bus was insured, with initial damage estimated to exceed 100 million VND.
