Following the discovery, the Tuyen Lam commune military command, in coordination with the commune police and the Ra Mai border guard task force, promptly established a protective cordon around the site. They reported the incident to higher authorities to request specialized support for handling the unexploded ordnance.
Tien Phong village is situated along the historic Truong Son (Ho Chi Minh) Road. This area was a fierce battleground during the Vietnam War. Consequently, numerous unexploded ordnance have been discovered in the region even after peace was restored.
