Road roller falls onto busy street in TP HCM

A road roller weighing over 10 tons, carried on a truck, unexpectedly fell onto Tran Van Giau street in Tan Tao ward, TP HCM, disrupting traffic for over one hour on the afternoon of 30/7.

Around 1 PM, a male driver was operating a truck carrying a three-wheeled steel road roller on Tran Van Giau street, heading from Vo Tran Chi street towards Mien Tay bus station. While attempting a left turn to make a U-turn, the securing chains snapped, causing the road roller to fall onto the road.

Due to the road roller falling at a slow speed, many cars and motorbikes behind it managed to swerve, preventing any casualties. However, the two vehicles blocked the lane, causing congestion on the main traffic artery.

Traffic police later arrived to assess the scene and spread sand to manage the oil spilled from the road roller's engine, preventing slipperiness. By 3 PM, the two vehicles were moved.

According to Decree 168/2024, vehicles transporting goods, transport means, or technical equipment that are unsecured or improperly secured can face fines of 18-22 million VND.
