Around 2:30 p.m., a 5-seater car with a Dong Thap province license plate was traveling on National Highway 60, heading towards Vinh Long province. While ascending Rach Mieu bridge in Thoi Son ward, the driver noticed smoke rising from the hood and pulled over to inspect the vehicle.

The fire quickly spread, sending a column of smoke reaching hundreds of meters. The driver, passersby, and Thoi Son ward police attempted to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers at the scene but were unsuccessful. Provincial fire police and emergency vehicles then arrived, bringing the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.

At the scene, the fire completely destroyed the 5-seater car's front, cockpit, and half of its front body. The disabled car occupied the innermost lane shared by cars and motorcycles, causing vehicles on the bridge to slow down and leading to congestion for kilometers.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
