Car rams into group of women, one fatality

A dispute led Nguyen Tan Thanh to ram his car into a group of people in Ben Cau commune, resulting in one fatality on the afternoon of 30/11.

Around 11:30, Nguyen Thi Hanh, 49, was chatting in front of her house in Thuan Tay hamlet with Nguyen Thi Be Nam, 44, and Nguyen Thi Be Sau, 42.

At that time, Nguyen Tan Thanh, 46, also residing in Thuan Tay hamlet, drove a white 5-seater car past them. An argument ensued, and the driver suddenly reversed, then drove straight into the group of women.

The powerful impact knocked over a motorcycle, dragging Be Nam and Be Sau for tens of meters. Hanh and a young girl standing nearby panicked and screamed.

Without stopping, Thanh continued to reverse the car onto the road, hitting a canopy support pole, damaging the front and rear of the vehicle. The car then continued into the house, knocking over another motorcycle. Hanh and the girl fortunately avoided injury. The entire incident unfolded in nearly one minute.

The accident left Be Sau severely injured; she was rushed to Xuyen A Hospital but did not survive. According to authorities, the deceased victim was Thanh's younger sister.
