This maritime infrastructure project marks a record-breaking investment in Da Nang, totaling nearly 2 billion USD (approximately 45,268 billion VND). Spanning over 172 hectares, the mega-project features a system of 8 container berths with a combined wharf length of 2,750 meters. Designed to accommodate the world's largest container vessels, with a deadweight tonnage of up to 200,000 DWT (equivalent to an 18,000 TEU capacity), it also includes a dedicated barge berth for 5,000-ton ships. This setup aims to optimize goods distribution via inland waterways, thereby reducing logistics costs, a key economic bottleneck for the Central Region.

He highlighted its dual benefit: completing a continuous logistics ecosystem and fully separating seaport traffic from urban and tourism areas, fostering sustainable development.
Representing the investor consortium, Mr. Tran Van Ky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hateco Group, emphasized the project's practical socio-economic value. He stated it would create numerous job opportunities, contribute to developing a high-quality workforce, and add tens of thousands of billions of VND to the local budget.

In his directive speech, permanent deputy prime minister Pham Gia Tuc underscored Lien Chieu port's significance, calling it a "national asset" and a crucial link in international maritime infrastructure. He stressed that upon completion, this mega-project will elevate Vietnam's standing on the global maritime transport map and play a pivotal role in national defense and security.

The deputy prime minister urged Da Nang to promptly complete shared infrastructure and synchronized transport connection systems: road, waterway, railway, and air, to maximize the port's effectiveness. He concluded, "The success of the investors in this key project is also the success of the city and the nation." With an operational lifespan of 50 years, the port is strategically located on an international maritime route and at the terminus of the East-West Economic Corridor. It is expected to foster new prosperity for the entire Central - Central Highlands Region, alleviate pressure on Tien Sa port, and address urban traffic challenges in the city center once operational.
