driving student causes fatal accident, instructor dies

A driving practice car on national highway 27 rear-ended a parked truck, killing the instructor in the passenger seat on the noon of 17/9.

At around 10:50 AM, 18-year-old student Bui Cong Hieu was driving a practice car, marked with the name of the Nam Viet Vocational Education and Driver Training Center (Pong Drang commune), on National Highway 27, heading towards National Highway 26.

Upon reaching the Buon Ma Thuot eastern bypass, specifically the section passing through Ta Ra village, Ea Knuec commune, the car unexpectedly rear-ended a truck parked in the same direction.

The accident severely deformed the cabin of the practice car. Driving instructor Phan Thanh Truc, 33, a resident of Ea Kly commune, was trapped in the passenger seat. People broke open the door to rescue him, but he had already died.

According to authorities, the incident occurred because driver Hieu failed to observe his surroundings. Initial property damage is estimated at 40 million VND.
