On 10/1, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport Project Management Unit, the investor, announced that underpass HC1-02, a key component of the An Phu interchange project (formerly Thu Duc City), is over 84% complete. Three tunnel sections are finished, with remaining sections and the pumping system being expedited. The project is expected to be completed and opened to traffic on 31/1.

The HC1-02 underpass is approximately 760 meters long, directly connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway with Mai Chi Tho avenue, heading towards Thu Thiem tunnel. This structure features four lanes, two in each direction, and is equipped with lighting, fire protection, and pumping systems.
Once operational, the HC1-02 underpass will connect with underpass HC1-01 at the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection, which opened to traffic in 6/2025. These two interconnected underpasses will enable continuous traffic flow from Mai Chi Tho avenue to the expressway and vice versa, reducing traffic conflicts at the An Phu interchange.

Previously, during the New Year holiday, a right-turn flyover branch from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway descending onto Mai Chi Tho avenue, heading towards Vo Nguyen Giap street, also became operational. Other components, such as Ba Dat and Giong Ong To bridges, are complete but not yet open to traffic, pending synchronized connections.
According to the investor, the An Phu interchange project is continuing construction on several other flyover branches, expected to be completed by late June this year. However, some components face challenges due to site clearance issues in the Luong Dinh Cua street area.

Launched late 2022, the An Phu interchange project represents a total investment of over 3,400 billion Vietnamese dong. It features a three-level design, incorporating underpasses, flyovers, and a central roundabout. The project was initially scheduled for completion by late 2025, but the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved an extension to Quarter II this year.
The An Phu interchange is a crucial junction connecting major traffic arteries such as the Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, Mai Chi Tho avenue, and Luong Dinh Cua, Nguyen Thi Dinh, and Dong Van Cong streets. It also serves as a gateway to Cat Lai Port, where over 20,000 container trucks pass daily.
