Female tourist nearly hit by train while filming near tracks

A female tourist sitting close to the tracks to record a video had her hand struck by the train's front, her phone knocked away, and was almost hit in the head.

On 10/8, a video circulated on social media, showing a female tourist sitting very close to the railway tracks in the train street cafe area of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam ward, Hanoi, to film a passing train. As the train approached, its locomotive struck the tourist's hand, sending her phone flying and narrowly missing her head. The incident occurred in front of house numbers 14B and 28C, Nha Dau collective.

A representative from Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam ward reported that the incident took place around 13:30 on 7/8. The female tourist sustained no injuries and left the scene without reporting the event to the police.

On the afternoon of 11/8, the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Ward Police issued an administrative fine to the owner of a cafe for allowing customers to sit near the railway tracks, citing the sale of goods within the railway safety corridor. Despite this, many tourists continued to visit the train street on the same day to take photos and videos as trains passed.

According to regulations, the railway safety zone in this area extends 8,6 meters on each side of the tracks. However, many cafes are located just 3-4 meters from the outer edge of the railway. Even with repeated inspections and enforcement actions by authorities, the train street continues to draw a large number of visitors. Traffic Police Team No. 1, under the Hanoi Police Traffic Police Department, maintains a 24/7 presence, reminding residents and tourists to avoid sitting close to the tracks. Since 15/7, the unit has addressed more than 100 cases of vehicles stopping or parking within the railway safety zone.

The train street cafe area stretches approximately 2 kilometers, following the railway line through the streets of Le Duan, Tran Phu, Cua Dong, Phung Hung, and Kham Thien.
