Fire at roasted pork restaurant on Hanoi street

A 700 m2 roasted pork restaurant on Hoang Ngan street caught fire, with smoke billowing onto the road and limiting visibility, on the afternoon of 13/8.

Around 15h50, flames erupted from the kitchen located on the third floor of the roasted pork restaurant at 84 Hoang Ngan street, Yen Hoa ward. The restaurant, a three-story building, spans approximately 700 m2 in total, with the first and second floors used for dining and the third floor housing the kitchen and staff accommodation.

The extensive use of wooden decor in the restaurant's design caused the fire to spread rapidly, generating a column of black smoke dozens of meters high. At times, smoke from the blaze spilled onto Le Van Luong and Hoang Ngan streets, impacting visibility for commuters.

The restaurant had not yet opened for customers, and only a few staff members were present, all of whom managed to escape safely.

Local police and restaurant staff actively worked to extinguish the flames before Firefighting and Rescue Team Area No. 2 arrived on the scene.

The fire was brought under control approximately 30 minutes later, and the cause is currently under investigation.
