This section of road, located on the left bank of the canal, stretches from Luong Ngoc Quyen street to the Vam Thuat river, within An Nhon ward (formerly Go Vap district). It marks the first segment of the Xuyen Tam canal improvement project to be put into operation.

Previously, this area was characterized by a dense concentration of dilapidated houses along the canal and significant environmental pollution. Following the urban embellishment, the newly constructed road features two lanes, accompanied by new embankments, creating a more open and organized space for the surrounding residential community.

Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, stated that this road section falls under construction package 3, one of the three primary components of the Xuyen Tam canal improvement project.

Construction for this package began in 5/2025. To date, the embankment and wastewater collection systems are 90-97% complete. Remaining items, including dredging, landscaping, lighting, utility trenches, railings, and the road on the right bank, are slated for completion in November. The entire package is expected to be operational this year.

According to Duong Van Kim, Vice Chairman of An Nhon Ward People's Committee, package 3 largely traverses the ward, impacting 138 households and organizations. Initial land clearance efforts faced challenges but progressed quickly once residents aligned with the objectives of urban embellishment and pollution reduction.

"The opening of this first road section offers residents more convenient travel, while also enhancing the environment and the area's appearance," Kim stated.

The Xuyen Tam canal dredging, environmental improvement, and infrastructure construction project spans over 8,8 km. Its main route extends nearly 6,7 km, connecting the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal to the Vam Thuat river. Additionally, three branches – Cau Son, Binh Trieu, and Binh Loi – collectively measure over 2,2 km.

The canal bed will undergo dredging to a depth of approximately 3,5 m and a width of 20-30 m, integrating a wastewater and rainwater collection system. Both sides of the canal will feature two-lane roads, complete with sidewalks, parks, and lighting infrastructure.

With a total investment exceeding 17.230 billion VND from the state budget, primarily allocated for land clearance, this project represents one of Ho Chi Minh City's most significant urban embellishment and environmental initiatives.

In addition to package 3, construction packages 1 and 2, traversing the former Binh Thanh district, began in 12/2025. Contractors are currently prioritizing piling, embankment wall construction, and ground reinforcement, while also manufacturing precast components and mobilizing equipment to expedite construction.

Initially, the project was scheduled for completion in 2028. However, the investor is now developing a plan to accelerate the timeline, aiming to finalize the entire construction by the end of 2027.
