Authorities are continuing the search for the two remaining victims: Zo Ram Nho, 28, a police officer from Put village, and his wife, Briu Thi Tep, 27. The site is currently sealed off for safety as continuous landslides, soft mud, and rugged terrain pose ongoing risks.
The victims' families face hardship. Mr. Nut leaves behind three young children, while Mr. Nho and his wife have two children aged two and eight. Local authorities have visited the families and appealed for support.
The landslide occurred at 9:30 AM on 14/11, under sunny skies, when a section of the mountain in Put village unexpectedly collapsed. It swept approximately 100 m down to the foothills, burying three individuals. Authorities urgently evacuated 171 households, comprising nearly 700 residents, from the hazardous zone. Military personnel, border guards, and various rescue teams are using drones, K9 dogs, and specialized equipment in the search.
Experts indicate the area has long been identified as high-risk. Weak soil, prolonged heavy rainfall, and the cultivation of short-cycle acacia (three to five years) contribute to hillside erosion, leading to landslides.
