Yesterday afternoon, a group of five people residing in Phan Ri Cua commune came to the Dong Mang spillway area to camp and enjoy the weekend. Around 18h30, water from upstream suddenly surged strongly, sweeping away Linh and 13-year-old Tran Ngoc Quyen.
The Hai Ninh Commune Military Command mobilized more than 20 officials and militia members to coordinate with the commune police and local residents in the search. Rescue forces later found Quyen clinging to a tree by the stream; he was brought to safety on the bank and was in stable condition. Linh remained missing.
Due to darkness and strong currents, authorities temporarily halted the search overnight.
Around 7h on 5/10, Linh's body was found and handed over to his family for funeral arrangements.
In recent days, Lam Dong province has experienced continuous rain, affecting many areas. In the early morning of 29/9, heavy rain caused landslides, sweeping red sand into Tu village, Phu Thuy ward, damaging roads through residential areas and resorts. The rain also caused localized flooding in flower farming areas in Lang Biang ward, Da Lat. On 4/10, Bao Lam 2 commune evacuated more than 40 households due to floodwaters from upstream, causing flooding of 0,8-1,2 meters in many areas.
