General secretary supports flood-affected residents

On the morning of 24/11, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, general secretary To Lam and Party and State leaders donated to support residents in storm- and flood-affected areas and observed a moment of silence for those who died in the recent natural disaster.

The event occurred during the 2025 conference reviewing Party inspection, supervision, and discipline enforcement. General secretary To Lam and other delegates expressed deep sympathy for the losses suffered by residents in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands, where many provinces have been repeatedly hit by flash floods and landslides.

In recent days, the entire country has united to support the flood-stricken regions. The government has provided continuous emergency aid to Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, and Dak Lak from the central budget reserve. Many localities, including Ha Noi, TP HCM, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh, have dispatched relief supplies and working delegations to isolated areas. The Vietnam Fatherland Front has allocated aid funds, and organizations, businesses, and individuals nationwide have contributed food, medicine, clothing, and numerous humanitarian aid convoys.

Military and police forces mobilized tens of thousands of officers, soldiers, vehicles, and helicopters to access cut-off areas, transport relief goods, and assist with civilian evacuation. The government urged local leaders to stay close to the ground, ensure timely supplies, and complete cleanup, restoration of homes, schools, and roads before 30/11. Households with collapsed or damaged homes will receive repair assistance in November and resettlement before 31/1/2026.

The floods in the South Central Coast have so far claimed 91 lives, submerged many areas, and forced hundreds of households to evacuate. Economic damage is estimated at over 13 trillion VND, with Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa being the most severely affected. Over 220 homes collapsed, nearly 1,000 homes were damaged, and extensive areas of crops, livestock, and infrastructure were washed away or buried.
