On the morning of 5/1, speaking at the 60th anniversary celebration of the Party's Internal Affairs Sector's traditional day, General Secretary To Lam highlighted the sector's pivotal role in safeguarding the Party, the political system, and the legitimate rights and interests of the people.
Over its 60-year history, the Internal Affairs Sector, despite various names and structural changes, has consistently fulfilled its duties. Its significant contributions have marked the Party's revolutionary cause and the nation's development.
Throughout history, generations of internal affairs officials have demonstrated "absolute loyalty to the Party, the nation, and the people." They have consistently upheld principles, shown unwavering resolve, and acted with dedication, integrity, and courage to defend what is right and firmly oppose what is wrong. According to the General Secretary, since its re-establishment, the Internal Affairs Sector has increasingly served as a strategic advisory body for internal affairs, anti-corruption, anti-waste, anti-negativity, and judicial reform. As Vietnam embarks on a new development phase with strong aspirations amidst various challenges, the sector must remain steadfast and continue to effectively act as the Party's "goalkeeper."
Addressing anti-corruption, anti-waste, and anti-negativity efforts, General Secretary To Lam urged the Internal Affairs Sector to advise on fostering stronger, more effective, and sustainable changes. He underscored that this is a strategic, long-term mission, requiring continuous effort rather than a campaign-style approach. The sector must embody the Party's unwavering resolve in this fight, guided by the principles of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions," and "everyone is equal before the law."
The General Secretary also directed the Internal Affairs Sector to advise the Politburo and the Secretariat on promptly addressing complex issues concerning national security and social order. Furthermore, the sector should improve citizen reception and resolve complaints and denunciations at the grassroots level. He emphasized preventing the integration of group or local interests in lawmaking, promulgation, and enforcement. Simultaneously, power control must be enhanced, and corruption and waste prevented within the operations of two-tier local governments.
