Golden horse mascot welcomes spring at Da Nang international airport

Da Nang international airport unveils a 5-meter tall golden horse mascot in front of terminal 2, creating a welcoming landmark for visitors during the new year.

The mascot, completed on 5/1, is situated at the waterfall area near the international terminal entrance. Artisan Dinh Van Tam from Quang Tri custom-designed the artwork, aiming to create a welcoming Tet atmosphere and convey messages of peace and luck to every passenger starting their journey.

The golden horse, sculpted in a posture of stretching forward, embodies a spirit of resilience, dynamism, and aspiration. According to airport management, the horse's image not only suits the airport's role as an aviation gateway but also creates a friendly, inviting feeling for visitors during the early days of the Year of the Horse (Binh Ngo).

To complete the artwork, artisan Dinh Van Tam and his team worked continuously for over one month. An internal load-bearing steel frame ensures the mascot stands firmly outdoors, while its exterior is covered with over 60 square meters of yellow alu material.

The mascot's surface, assembled from approximately 150,000 small alu pieces, creates a gentle light reflection effect. This design highlights features from its mane and body to its powerful stance.

Nguyen Xuan Kieu, Head of Communications and External Relations for Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT), stated that the company proactively coordinated with the artisan months in advance. This ensured the mascot's installation at the airport coincided with Tet.

"Through this artwork, the airport hopes to spread positive energy and excitement for the new year", Kieu said.

Artisan Dinh Van Tam is a prominent figure in artistic mascot creation in recent years. His works garner attention for their realistic shapes, expressive demeanors, and high level of detail. He gained widespread recognition for his previous mascots: the Tiger (Nham Dan), Cat (Quy Mao), and Dragon (Giap Thin).
