The Hai Phong City People's Committee recently approved a project to restore, embellish, and promote the value of the Kiep Bac relic site. This initiative aims to gradually complete the relic system and synchronize the technical infrastructure and landscape of the entire area, aligning with the Master Plan for the Con Son - Kiep Bac relic complex.
The project encompasses several major components across the Kiep Bac relic site and its related monuments. The Management Board will focus on comprehensively upgrading the landscape, synchronizing technical infrastructure, restoring Nghi Mon, and constructing new areas for management and artifact display.
Bac Dau Temple and Nam Tao Temple, two satellite relics, will undergo comprehensive restoration and embellishment. The city also plans to renovate and restore the ecological landscape at Con Kiem, construct Mieu Cuu Thien Vu De, and develop an inter-regional transport system.
A significant highlight of the project involves restoring the 1972 archaeological excavation pit at Kiep Bac Temple. This effort aims to provide robust scientific data, clarifying the heritage's outstanding universal value, authenticity, and integrity, thereby meeting stringent UNESCO recommendations.

To ensure sustainable tourism development and protect the heritage environment, a centralized wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 250 m3/day, along with a synchronized wastewater collection system, will be meticulously constructed. The total project investment exceeds 1,156 billion VND, sourced from the city's budget, and will be implemented during the 2026-2028 period.
According to the Hai Phong City People's Committee, the project's implementation will not only create a harmonious architectural and landscape space, meeting the increasing spiritual and cultural needs of the people, but also attract socialized resources. These resources will serve the sustainable development strategy for this special national historical relic site.
Kiep Bac Temple is located in Tran Hung Dao ward, Hai Phong City (formerly Hung Dao ward, Chi Linh City, Hai Duong province). It served as a residence, the place of death, and later became a place of worship for Tran Hung Dao. He commanded the Dai Viet army during three resistance wars against the Yuan-Mongol invasions and is revered by the people as Duc Thanh Tran.
Kiep Bac is one of five relics in Hai Phong that are part of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son Kiep Bac complex, which UNESCO has recognized as a world cultural heritage site.
