Heavy rain and thunderstorms hit northern communes of Dong Nai, in the former Binh Phuoc area, on the evening of 16/6, felling many trees.

In Phu Nghia commune, strong winds uprooted many wide-canopied cashew trees. One tree, in Hamlet 3, with a diameter of about 20 cm, fell onto Dieu Brong's house, hitting the bed where he was lying.

Residents and authorities later cut and cleared the tree trunk, removing the victim, but he had already passed away.

On the same evening, Phu Nghia commune authorities visited the scene to help the family address the consequences, offer condolences, and provide financial support for the funeral.

In recent days, Dong Nai has experienced continuous heavy rain and thunderstorms, leading to flooded roads and fallen trees. Two days prior, strong winds also caused several homes in Tri An ward to collapse, damaging crops and livestock for many households.
