On 22/8, the Hanoi Party Committee reviewed a report from the city's Party Committee and People's Committee concerning the proposed relocation of the monument from the Ba Kieu Temple complex in Hoan Kiem Ward.
Agreeing in principle, the Standing Committee requested continued consideration of feedback to select a new location that matches the historical, cultural, and symbolic value of the monument.
The chosen site must offer a solemn space, convenient for residents and tourists, to promote traditional education and honor the spirit of 'Quyet tu de To quoc quyet sinh'.
Authorities will review and decide on a specific plan before its implementation. The relocation will only occur after Hanoi announces the Ho Guom area master plan and completes infrastructure at the new site.

Previously, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed moving the monument to the Capital Military Command. This agency believes the location is suitable due to its historical significance, as it is linked to the formation, combat, and growth of the capital's armed forces.
Hanoi erected the 'Quyet tu de To quoc quyet sinh' monument in 1984 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Capital's Liberation. The name comes from a phrase in President Ho Chi Minh's letter to the Capital Regiment soldiers.
After more than 40 years, the urban space and landscape around Ho Guom have changed. Agencies, units, experts, and scientists consulted have agreed on the need to study the monument's relocation.
Hanoi also features the 'Hanoi Winter 1946' relief at Dong Xuan Market and another 'Quyet tu de To quoc quyet sinh' monument at Van Xuan Flower Garden, both depicting the fighting spirit of the capital's army and people during the early days of the national resistance.
