Couple dies, suspected electric shock

A couple was found dead on the second floor of their home in Vinh Hai commune, with authorities suspecting an electric shock from a leaking solar water heater system.

On the evening of 21/8, Bui Van Be, 44, and his wife Nguyen Thi Van, 40, were found dead on the second floor of their residence. The following morning, 22/8, representatives from the Vinh Hai Commune People's Committee visited the family to extend condolences and offer support.

Police immediately cordoned off the scene for forensic examination and investigation. Initial findings by specialized agencies indicate the couple died from electrocution, likely caused by an electrical leak from their solar water heater system. At the time of the incident, Vinh Hai commune was experiencing rainy and humid weather.

Experts explain that the operating principle of a water heater is similar to that of an electric kettle, using a resistor to heat water. Most modern water heaters are equipped with internal sensors, enabling users to set a desired temperature, after which the unit automatically shuts off.

Electric accidents involving water heaters commonly occur when the internal heating element makes contact with the outer casing, leading to electricity leaking to the unit's exterior and potentially into the water.
