Hanoi Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc appointed Head of Central Organization Commission

Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, has been assigned by the Politburo to serve as Head of the Central Organization Commission, replacing Le Minh Hung, who was recently elected Prime Minister.

On the morning of 8/4, General Secretary and President To Lam presented the Politburo's decision to assign Nguyen Duy Ngoc to his new role. Ngoc assumes this position after serving as Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee for five months.

Nguyen Duy Ngoc, 62 years old, hails from Hung Yen province. He holds a Master of Law degree and a Bachelor of Administrative Law. He is a member of the 13th and 14th Central Committees, a member of the 13th and 14th Politburos, and a delegate to the 16th National Assembly.

Ngoc dedicated many years to the Public Security force, holding various positions including Head of Thanh Tri District Police; Head of the Road and Rail Traffic Police Department; Chief of the Investigative Police Agency Office; and Deputy Director of Hanoi Police.

His career progressed to include roles as Deputy Director General of the General Department of Police and Director of the Department of Investigation of Corruption, Economic, and Smuggling Crimes (C03) under the Ministry of Public Security. In 8/2019, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Public Security, and in late 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General.

In 6/2024, Ngoc was assigned as Chief of the Central Party Office. In 1/2025, the Central Committee elected him to the Politburo, where he subsequently served as Head of the Central Inspection Commission.

In 11/2025, the Politburo assigned and appointed him as Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, prior to his current new assignment.

The Central Organization Commission serves as an advisory body to the Central Committee, and directly and regularly to the Politburo and the Secretariat. Its mandate covers Party building, political system development, and specialized work related to organization, personnel, Party members, and internal political protection.
