Ho Chi Minh City authorities have approved an adjustment to the An Phu Interchange project's implementation timeline, following a proposal from the Department of Construction. This adjustment pertains solely to the schedule and does not alter the project's objectives, scale, or total investment.
This marks the project's second extension. Initially slated for completion by the end of 2025, the An Phu Interchange's schedule was later revised to Q3/2026. The latest decision further pushes back the completion milestone by one year.

The city has tasked the Department of Construction with monitoring the project's progress, particularly land clearance, to promptly address any emerging issues. The investor, the Ho Chi Minh City Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Projects, is required to expedite the remaining components and provide monthly updates on overall and individual package progress for city oversight.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has stipulated that the investor will be held accountable to the Chairman of the city People's Committee if the project experiences further delays.
Commenced in 2022, the An Phu Interchange is a key infrastructure project for Ho Chi Minh City. With an investment exceeding 3,400 ty VND, the project features a three-level design, incorporating underpasses, overpasses, and ramps to connect major arteries: Mai Chi Tho, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, Dong Van Cong, and Luong Dinh Cua.
Regarded as the city's largest interchange, this project serves as a critical gateway to Cat Lai Port. It also links eastern Ho Chi Minh City with the expressway leading to Dong Nai, Long Thanh Airport, and other southeastern provinces. The area currently handles over 20,000 container truck movements daily, leading to frequent congestion during peak hours.

According to the investor, the delay primarily stems from two factors: land clearance issues along Luong Dinh Cua street and challenges in constructing within a high-traffic zone. Additionally, the implementation process involves addressing numerous underground technical infrastructure works while simultaneously maintaining traffic flow through the interchange.
To date, several components have been completed and are operational, including: the overpass for vehicles turning right from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway onto Mai Chi Tho, the two-way underpass connecting Mai Chi Tho to the expressway, the left-turn ramp from Mai Chi Tho to Dong Van Cong, Ba Dat Bridge, and Giong Ong To Bridge.
