According to data from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) under the Ministry of Public Security, over 369,210 new cars were registered nationwide during the first six months of this year, an increase from 265,000 units in the first half of 2025.
The two-wheeler market maintained its dominant growth, with 1,825,459 motorcycles receiving license plates. This represents an increase of nearly 700,000 vehicles compared to the same period in 2025. Additionally, the specialized motorcycle segment, serving production, construction, and traffic activities, recorded 4,900 new registrations.

The influx of new vehicles in the first half of 2026 has brought the total number of registered and circulating cars in Vietnam to 7,134,939. Motorcycles remain the most popular mode of transport for citizens, with 84,003,180 vehicles. The management system also recorded 112,163 specialized motorcycles registered nationwide.
Overall, the country now has over 91,2 million road motor vehicles in circulation and managed by the data system. The CSGT successfully auctioned over 30,600 car license plates and over 56,000 motorcycle license plates, contributing nearly 2,540 billion VND to the state budget.
