The Central Inspection Committee announced on the afternoon of 20/5 that it has concluded two senior Quang Ninh officials, Nguyen Duc Thanh and Diep Van Chien, exhibited political and ethical degradation and violated Party and State regulations. This conclusion followed a review of a proposal from the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee. Thanh, permanent vice chairman of the Provincial People's Council and secretary of its Party Committee, and Chien, head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, were found to have violated laws in performing their duties, specifically regarding anti-corruption, waste, and negative practices.
The two officials also violated regulations outlining what Party members are prohibited from doing and their responsibility to set an example. Their actions led to "severe consequences, significantly damaging the reputation of the Party organization, the locality, and their respective agencies, necessitating disciplinary action."
Consequently, the Central Inspection Committee has recommended that competent authorities consider disciplining Nguyen Duc Thanh and Diep Van Chien.
In April, the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Council had already dismissed both Nguyen Duc Thanh and Diep Van Chien as provincial People's Council delegates, citing "violations of the standards required for a People's Council delegate."
Nguyen Duc Thanh, 56, is from Hung Yen. He holds a Master's degree in Public Management and Bachelor's degrees in Economics and English.
Diep Van Chien, 50, is a native of Quang Ninh. His academic qualifications include a Master's degree in State and Law Theory and History, a Bachelor's degree in Law, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics. He has served as head of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee since November 2023.
