Illegal villa in Ca Mau partially demolished

Ho An Tap, owner of the illegally built villa, has begun demolishing approximately 400 square meters of the non-compliant structure on aquaculture land.

On 9/10, Mr. Tap stated that the section being demolished is a building used as a company office, featuring a reinforced concrete foundation, brick walls, and a corrugated iron roof. This structure occupies an area of over 1,300 square meters of land designated for construction that does not comply with planning regulations, requiring restoration to its original state. The demolition is expected to be completed tomorrow.

According to the owner, the remaining non-compliant area will be used for fish farming and planting trees, with no further construction. His family faces financial difficulties and cannot afford to pay over 8 billion VND for land use fees to convert its purpose. Mr. Tap hopes for favorable conditions to convert the land use purpose for his residence, which spans over 180 square meters.

The villa is situated on a plot of land exceeding 3,600 square meters, adjacent to the Quan Lo - Phung Hiep route, in Tan Thanh ward, former Ca Mau city. Mr. Tap constructed the building in 2022, frequently posting photos and livestreaming the construction process, touting it as "the most beautiful villa in Ca Mau province."

Subsequently, authorities fined him for improper land use and ordered the demolition of the infringing structure. On 17/9, the People's Committee of former Ca Mau city issued a decision allowing him to convert the land use purpose for over 2,000 square meters, requiring a payment of over 8.3 billion VND.

Lacking sufficient funds, Mr. Tap previously put the villa up for sale at a price exceeding 50 billion VND.
