The directive, signed by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai, was sent to the Department of Construction on 14/11. The Department of Construction is tasked with leading the effort, in coordination with the Department of Finance and other relevant departments, agencies, and localities, to research and review the planning, investment, and construction of the province's new administrative-political center.

According to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, this requirement aims to implement the resolution adopted by the 1st Provincial Party Congress (2025-2030 term) in October, as well as the action plan of the 1st Provincial Party Executive Committee.
The new administrative-political center must be situated in a location with significant potential and room for growth, driving development in land resources, commerce, services, tourism, high-tech zones, and urban expansion. It must also feature convenient transportation systems connecting the province to economic-financial, industrial, and science-technology hubs, as well as key national routes.
Lam Dong province was recently formed following the merger of Binh Thuan and Dak Nong. It spans over 24,233 km2, has a population of nearly 3,9 million, and comprises 124 wards and communes. As the largest province by area in the country, some wards and communes are widely separated. For instance, Da Lat is approximately 160 km from Gia Nghia (formerly Dak Nong) and Phan Thiet (formerly Binh Thuan). Transportation between these localities is not yet convenient.
Currently, the province's administrative-political center is located in the former Da Lat city, now Xuan Huong ward, Da Lat. Provincial-level officials and staff from the former Binh Thuan and Dak Nong areas have already relocated here to work.
