Lam Dong provides 120 million VND for homes destroyed by floods

Households with homes completely collapsed, swept away, or severely damaged beyond repair will receive 120 million VND from Lam Dong province for post-flood reconstruction.

According to a decision issued by the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee (UBND) on 5/12, households whose homes were partially submerged, collapsed, or suffered structural damage will receive 20-40 million VND for repairs, with the amount varying based on the extent of the damage.

In addition to housing assistance, each household displaced to avoid flooding or landslides will receive 5 million VND. Households whose homes collapsed, were swept away by floods, or were severely damaged will also receive 2 million VND per month for rent over two months. Students from elementary school age and above in affected families will receive 500,000 VND for school supplies.

Funding for these initiatives will be drawn from the provincial budget and the provincial Fatherland Front's relief fund. Local authorities are tasked with verifying eligible recipients, publishing lists, and ensuring transparent disbursement of aid.

On 3-4/12, heavy rains combined with upstream flood releases resulted in approximately 6,195 homes in Lam Dong being flooded and extensive property damage. The lower reaches of the Cai River near Phan Thiet were the most severely affected, with Ham Thang ward alone reporting 2,800 flooded homes and requiring the complete evacuation of residents. Other areas, including Ham Thuan, Ham Thuan Bac, Luong Son, Ham Liem, Song Luy, Bac Binh, and Hiep Thanh, also saw hundreds to nearly 800 homes deeply inundated.

The floods also damaged over 4,000 hectares of crops, killed or swept away over 4,000 livestock and poultry, and damaged numerous boats.
