Large fire erupts at Da Nang suburban parking lot

A massive fire, sparked by a loud explosion, swept through a parking lot 15 km from central Da Nang, sending a smoke column hundreds of meters high and prompting authorities to deploy a firefighting robot.

Around 13:30 on 1/12, residents of Thach Nham Dong village, Ba Na commune, discovered a fire at a parking lot. Many reported hearing a loud explosion, followed by a towering column of black smoke visible from the city center.

The flames quickly spread to an area storing gasoline and oil near mineral mining sites, causing the blaze to intensify and spread rapidly. Local forces attempted to extinguish it but were unsuccessful.

Police approached the blaze from multiple directions, with a firefighting robot utilizing the hilly terrain of the parking lot to spray water and foam downwards. Ngoc Truong.

The Da Nang Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police mobilized 10 specialized vehicles, including a firefighting robot, and dozens of officers to the scene. The fire engulfed hundreds of square meters, with high temperatures, dense smoke, and the risk of explosions from fuel tanks, making access challenging.

By past 16:00, the blaze remained uncontrolled. Police continued spraying foam, creating fire breaks, blocking the fire's path, and cordoning off the area to prevent its spread to residential zones. Authorities asked residents living near the scene to evacuate.

Authorities reported no human casualties. Property damage will be assessed after the fire is extinguished.

Smoke from the blaze rose tens of meters high, requiring police to deploy 10 specialized vehicles to control it. Ngoc Truong.
