A 54-year-old man died after being struck by lightning on the morning of 16/6 while collecting seafood with his wife at Doan 295 beach.

At approximately 6 a.m., Tran Quang Trung, 54, and his wife Nguyen Thi Le, 53, residents of Anh Dung ward, arrived at Doan 295 beach in Hai Son ward, khu 1. A lightning bolt struck Mr. Trung, causing severe injuries and instant death. His wife was unharmed.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, northern Vietnam entered a period of widespread rain from 15/6 to approximately 19/6. This was due to a low-pressure trough combined with upper-level wind convergence at about 5,000 meters.

In Do Son, rain and thunderstorms began at 5 a.m. that morning. Authorities urged residents and tourists to avoid swimming. Mr. Trung's body has since been taken home for burial arrangements.
