This discovery is part of a broader effort by the Martyr Remains Collection Team of Economic-Defense Group 337. Since 11/3, the team has located 6 sets of fallen soldiers' remains in Huong Lap commune. These findings include remains discovered in a rock cave on Co Loong mountain, Se Pu hamlet, and another set near the rock cave entrance of Co Chuoi mountain, Cu Bai hamlet.
Huong Lap commune, situated on the Laos border, was a strategic corridor of the Truong Son trail through western Quang Tri. It served as a critical stopover and transit point for troops, weapons, and food moving from North to South. The area witnessed numerous battles, enemy raids, sabotage operations, and ambushes aimed at protecting this vital route, underscoring its historical significance in the conflict.
