Around 11 AM, a truck with a Nghe An license plate was traveling north-south on National Highway 1. As it reached An Chau commune, formerly part of Dien Chau district, it collided with a 7-seater car moving in the same direction, pushing it onto the median strip.
The truck then swerved into the opposite lane, crashing into another truck traveling in the opposite direction.
The multi-vehicle accident resulted in the death of the 52-year-old driver of the Nghe An-plated truck. Two other individuals from the remaining vehicles were trapped in their cabins, seriously injured, and required emergency hospitalization.
At the scene, all three vehicles had severely damaged fronts, with debris scattered within a 100-meter radius. Several streetlights and traffic signs were knocked down.
The section of National Highway 1 where the accident occurred is a residential area, approximately 20 meters wide. It features two directions, with two lanes on each side, separated by a median strip. The maximum speed limit for vehicles on this section is 90 km/h.
The Nghe An Provincial Traffic Police Department dispatched officers to manage traffic flow and arrange for tow trucks to remove the damaged vehicles.
