Around 21h30 on 21/3, a driver reported hearing multiple loud bangs while descending towards Son River bridge in Bac Trach commune. Upon pulling over, he found deep scratches on the metal front of his vehicle, indicating it had been struck by stones.
"Initially, I thought stones had bounced up from the road, but later I learned many other vehicles were also hit, likely by someone throwing stones," the driver said. He noted approximately 10 vehicles, primarily trucks and container trucks, with shattered windows, parked along the roadside.
The damage varied: some vehicles sustained holes 7-10 cm in diameter in their front windshields, while others had stones as large as an adult's fist penetrate their cabins. Although small glass shards scattered throughout, drivers fortunately reported no injuries.
Frustrated drivers reported the incidents to authorities. A leader from Bo Trach commune confirmed coordination with Bac Trach commune and police to investigate the reports and identify the perpetrators.

The Vung Ang - Bung expressway, which commenced construction in 1/2023 with an investment exceeding 12,540 billion VND, spans 13 km through Ha Tinh and over 42 km through Quang Tri. Phase 1 of the project includes four lanes, a 17 m wide roadbed, and a maximum speed of 90 km/h. Notably, the expressway lacks continuous emergency stopping lanes, providing only spaced emergency points every 4-5 km.
Similar incidents of vehicles being pelted with stones have occurred on other expressways, including Ha Noi - Hai Phong and TP HCM - Dau Giay, sparking public outrage.
