The Standing Committee of the National Assembly has convened the second regular session of the 16th National Assembly, set to begin on 17/10 at the National Assembly House and conclude on 20/11/2026. This marks an early start, three days ahead of the customary 20/10 opening for year-end sessions. Delegates will commence work immediately, including on the first weekend, 17/10 and 18/10. The session will be conducted in two phases: from 17/10 to 13/11 and from 19/11 to 20/11. According to the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, two regular sessions are held each year. The Standing Committee has the authority to adjust the opening date if practical requirements necessitate it.

During this session, the National Assembly plans to consider and approve 43 laws and normative resolutions. It will also provide initial feedback on two draft laws. Key legislative revisions expected for passage include amendments to the criminal code, criminal procedure code, land law, housing law, real estate business law, and the law on handling administrative violations. Additionally, the National Assembly will examine 10 groups of issues related to socio-economic development, the state budget, parliamentary supervision, and other important matters within its purview.

The 16th National Assembly, serving a term from 2026-2031, has already held two significant gatherings. Following its election, the first session in april focused on consolidating high-level personnel and establishing development plans. An extraordinary session in august then approved 15 laws, 6 normative resolutions, and provided initial feedback on seven draft laws. Ahead of the upcoming second regular session, the Standing Committee has urged delegates to engage with voters, compile their opinions and recommendations for reporting to the National Assembly, and submit written questions for responsible officials to answer.
