Many of the affected areas previously experienced a historic flood in late 2025, which submerged thousands of homes and trapped many people overnight. This past experience fuels residents' anxiety as water levels continue to rise amidst ongoing rain and reservoir releases.

On the afternoon of 24/9, in Ham Kiem commune, water overflowed roads and entered homes in numerous low-lying areas. Dan Hiep village was submerged by about 30 cm, while other spots saw water levels rise to 0,5-1 m.

Ham Kiem market was flooded 1-1,5 m deep. Over 400 hectares of dragon fruit, currently in their harvest period, were submerged in Dan Phu, Dan Hiep, Phu Tho, Phu Loc, Muong Man, and Dang Thanh villages, with water depths reaching 0,5-1 m in some places. Damage assessments are ongoing.

Nguyen Minh Thi, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ham Kiem commune, stated that local authorities increased standby forces and provided essential supplies to deeply flooded households. Emergency response teams were mobilized to affected areas to assist residents with relocating people, belongings, and cleaning up homes.

In Binh Thuan ward, the Ca Ty river swelled significantly. Since the morning of 24/9, authorities prohibited residents from crossing the Duc bridge area and stationed guards at flooded points. Approximately 1,000 homes and 200 hectares of agricultural land in the area were impacted by the prolonged heavy rain and water regulation from reservoirs.

Along the Ca Ty river, some households had to evacuate due to landslides. Nguyen Thi, a resident living by the Ca Ty river, said his family had lived in the area for nearly 30 years, but this was the first time he witnessed the strong river current causing severe landslides and foundation collapse. The foundation was completely broken, rendering the house unsafe for continued habitation. His family of 9 relies mainly on small business for income. Following the incident, the entire family moved in with relatives temporarily. For now, he plans to make temporary repairs to the house; long-term, he will pursue relocation or housing arrangements according to government policies.

After reservoirs increased water discharge downstream yesterday afternoon, many areas, including Ham Liem and Tuyen Quang, also experienced localized flooding. Water overflowed National Highway 1A through Ham Thang ward.

According to a rapid report from the Civilian Defense Steering Committee of Lam Dong province, 1,874 homes across the province were flooded, affected, or damaged; 2,838 hectares of crops were inundated. Transportation infrastructure in many localities was damaged or washed away.

In recent days, a low-pressure system brought heavy rain to southern provinces, including Lam Dong. For the next two days, Lam Dong is forecast to continue experiencing moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some areas, commonly 50-110 mm and locally over 180 mm. Prolonged rain increases the risk of flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods, and landslides in steep terrain with unstable soil.
