On the afternoon of 18/11, at its 28th specialized session, the Hue city People's Council elected Nguyen Khac Toan as chairman of the city People's Committee with a 100% approval rate. Earlier that morning, Phan Thien Dinh was assigned by the Secretariat as deputy secretary of the provincial Party Committee and elected chairman of Ha Tinh provincial People's Committee.

During the session, the city People's Council also relieved Nguyen Chi Tai of his duties as vice chairman of Hue city People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term due to a transfer. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, chief of the city People's Committee Office, was elected as the new vice chairman of Hue city People's Committee.

Speaking upon his appointment, Nguyen Khac Toan pledged to dedicate his full effort and intellect to work with the Hue city People's Committee collective. He aims to foster unity, discipline, and creativity, building an effective and efficient administrative apparatus. Initially, he will focus on directing the completion of socio-economic targets for 2025, contributing to the development of a civilized, prosperous city and improving the lives of its residents.

Nguyen Khac Toan, 55 years old, hails from Dong Ninh Hoa ward, Khanh Hoa province. He holds bachelor's degrees in Judicial Law and Party Building - State Administration. His career includes serving as chief of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Office, secretary of Cam Ranh City Party Committee, head of the provincial Organization Committee, standing deputy secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and chairman of Khanh Hoa provincial People's Council.

After Khanh Hoa merged with Ninh Thuan from 1/7, he continued as chairman of the provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term. In 9/2025, he was elected chairman of Khanh Hoa provincial People's Committee. On 16/11, the Secretariat assigned and appointed him as deputy secretary of Hue City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

From 1/2025, Hue became a centrally-run city with an area of 4,947 km2, a population exceeding 1,2 million, and 40 commune-level administrative units. For the 2020-2025 period, the average GRDP increased by 7,54% annually, average income reached 3,200 USD, and total budget revenue was 64.500 ty VND. For the 2025-2030 period, the city aims for an average annual growth of 10%, per capita GRDP of 5,800-6,000 USD, developing into a green, smart, and culturally rich urban center.
