Nguyen Khac Toan appointed deputy secretary of Hue city party committee

Nguyen Khac Toan, chairman of Khanh Hoa provincial people's committee, has been assigned by the central secretariat to serve as deputy secretary of Hue city party committee for the 2025-2030 term.

The decision was presented by Bui Thi Quynh Van, deputy head of the central organization commission, to Mr. Toan on the morning of 16/11 at the Hue City Party Committee headquarters. This appointment aligns with a policy set by the politburo and central secretariat regarding the assignment of all provincial chairpersons who are not local residents.

Mr. Toan is designated to join the executive committee and standing committee, and will hold the position of deputy secretary of Hue city party committee for the 2025-2030 term. He will subsequently be nominated to the Hue City People's Council for election as chairman of the city people's committee.

In his acceptance speech, Nguyen Khac Toan expressed his honor in the trust placed in him by the politburo and central secretariat to assume the important responsibility as deputy secretary of Hue city party committee. He pledged to work alongside the city's leadership, fostering unity, innovation, and decisive action to ensure Hue's sustainable, modern, and livable development.

Nguyen Khac Toan, 55 years old, hails from Dong Ninh Hoa ward, Khanh Hoa province. He holds degrees in judicial law and party building - state administration. His career includes serving as chief of staff of Khanh Hoa provincial party committee, secretary of Cam Ranh city party committee, head of the organization department of Khanh Hoa province, permanent deputy secretary of Khanh Hoa provincial party committee, and chairman of Khanh Hoa provincial people's committee.

From 1/2025, Hue will become a centrally-run city, joining other major cities such as: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM), and Can Tho. The city spans 4,947 km2, with a population exceeding 1.2 million, and comprises 40 commune-level administrative units. During the 2020-2025 period, its average gross regional domestic product (GRDP) grew by 7.54% annually, surpassing the national average. Per capita income reached 3,200 USD, and total budget revenue amounted to 64,500 billion VND.

For the 2025-2030 period, Hue city aims for an average economic growth rate of 10% per year, with per capita GRDP projected to reach approximately 5,800-6,000 USD by 2030. The city plans to develop a "green, smart, and identity-rich" urban area, enhancing its role as a cultural, tourism, and specialized medical hub. Key programs will focus on improving living standards, upgrading infrastructure, and promoting digital transformation in urban management.
