On the morning of 28/3, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Council elected Nguyen Van Ut, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, to continue serving as chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2026-2031 term.
This consolidation of key personnel occurs as Dong Nai is accelerating the restructuring of its development space after a merger. The central government has also approved the policy to develop Dong Nai into a centrally-run city, imposing high demands on growth, infrastructure, and urban governance.

Ut is from Duc Hue district, Long An province. Previously, he held several positions in Long An, including: Chairman of Duc Hoa District People's Committee, Secretary of Duc Hoa District Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee Vice Chairman, and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. After Long An merged with Tay Ninh, the Politburo appointed him chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee.
In 11/2025, he was transferred to serve as Deputy Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, and was subsequently elected chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
During the same session, the Provincial People's Council also elected the provincial People's Committee vice chairmen: Nguyen Kim Long, Le Truong Son, Ho Van Ha, and Nguyen Thi Hoang.
Within the Provincial People's Council, Ton Ngoc Hanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, was re-elected chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council. The two vice chairmen of the Provincial People's Council are Tran Van Mi and Dang Minh Nguyet.
Following its merger with Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai province now spans over 12,700 square kilometers with a population exceeding 4,5 million people, comprising 95 communes and wards. Its administrative center is located in Tran Bien ward (formerly Bien Hoa City).
For the 2026-2031 term, the province aims for an average annual GRDP growth of 10%. By 2030, it targets a GRDP exceeding 1,2 quadrillion VND, with GRDP per capita above 250 million VND, and budget revenue increasing by 10-12% annually.
