Ha Noi Railway One Member Limited Liability Company (Ha Noi Metro) announced that from 17/1, it will discontinue sales of NFC chip-enabled tickets from the old system, transitioning to a new upgraded system on the Nhon - Ha Noi Station line.
Passengers can utilize various ticket options: single-trip tickets (purchased via the Ha Noi Metro app and at ticket counters), time-based tickets (day, week, and month passes); Visa cards, chip-enabled ID cards/CCCD linked to payment methods, and other electronic payment options: Momo, Shoppee Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay.
For time-based tickets (day, week, and month passes), passengers can purchase tickets several days in advance and activate them only upon first use.
From 1/2, all turnstiles on the Nhon - Ha Noi Station line will begin using the electronic identification, authentication, and biometric recognition solution. After this date, old system tickets will no longer be valid.
Ha Noi Metro supports ticket conversion for passengers currently using valid week and month passes from the old sales system, preserving 100% of the remaining ticket value with direct assistance from station staff from 17/1 to 28/1.
During the conversion, stations will maintain at least one turnstile for the old ticket system until 28/1/2026 to assist passengers and ensure smooth travel.

To encourage use of the new system, from 17/1 to 21/3, passengers purchasing single-trip tickets on the Ha Noi Metro app will receive 100% fare support. Additionally, passengers using international Visa payment cards at turnstiles will receive free travel until 28/2.
From 1/1/2026 to present, Ha Noi Metro has pilot operated the electronic identification, authentication, and biometric recognition turnstile system at 8 stations on the Nhon - Ha Noi Station line.
According to Ha Noi Metro, the synchronized deployment of electronic identification, authentication, and biometric recognition technology solutions will modernize management, improve service quality, prevent ticket fraud, and promote the development of the Capital's smart urban transport system.
Previously, from 18/11/2025, the electronic identification, authentication, and biometric recognition system was deployed on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line, where it received active participation from a large number of people.
