Around 11:30 h, a fire erupted in the storage area of a shop located in the densely populated Vinh Phuoc 2 hamlet. Mr. Hai, the store owner, discovered the fire and raised the alarm. He and nearby residents attempted to put out the blaze with local resources, but were unsuccessful.
Due to the presence of many flammable items inside, such as plastic pipes, paint, and household goods, coupled with strong winds, the fire quickly spread. This created a smoke plume dozens of meters high and made firefighting efforts difficult. Sand barges anchored on the nearby Chac Bang river assisted by pumping water. More than 60 people, including local authorities, police, militia, and residents, participated in extinguishing the fire.
After about 45 minutes, the blaze was brought under control. The incident caused no casualties but destroyed nearly all property inside the shop and scorched the rear of an adjacent house.
Mr. Chau Ngoc Can, Vice Chairman of Vinh Phong Commune People's Committee, stated that the fire occurred near a densely populated residential area. However, thanks to the timely coordination of local forces and residents, the fire did not spread.
Authorities are currently assessing the damage and investigating the cause.
