The ceremony, held at the Martyrs' Memorial on Bac Son street in Hanoi and at President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, marked the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (27/7/1947 - 27/7/2026).
The commemoration was attended by: General Secretary and State President To Lam; Prime Minister Le Minh Hung; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Permanent Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former State President Luong Cuong; former Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; and former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. The delegation's wreath bore the inscription, "Eternal gratitude to heroic martyrs".
Following this, a delegation from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee also offered incense to commemorate heroic martyrs.

Afterwards, the delegations from the Party Central Committee, the State President, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee proceeded to lay wreaths and pay respects at President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum. Their wreath bore the inscription, "Eternal gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh".
On the same morning, other groups also participated in the commemorations. Delegations from the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense; the Central Public Security Party Committee - Ministry of Public Security; and the Hanoi Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee visited the Martyrs' Memorial and President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum to lay wreaths and pay their respects.

The tradition of War Invalids and Martyrs Day dates back 79 years. In June 1947, representatives from the Viet Minh General Headquarters, the National Salvation Women's Union, the Political Department of the Vietnam National Army, the Department of Information and Propaganda, and several localities convened a meeting in Dai Tu, Thai Nguyen.
The meeting's primary objective was to implement President Ho's directive to select a specific day to commemorate War Invalids and Martyrs and to establish support for their welfare.
After careful deliberation, the conference unanimously agreed to designate 27/7/1947 as the National War Invalids Day.
In 1955, the observance on 27/7 was officially renamed War Invalids and Martyrs Day, encompassing both groups in its commemoration.
