On the afternoon of 19/8, Party General Secretary To Lam met with the Central Steering Committee for the Celebration of Major Holidays and Historical Events to review preparations for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (19/8) and National Day (2/9).
The general secretary emphasized that preparations and organization must be proactive and coordinated across all levels, from central to local. The goal is to showcase the significance of the events and Vietnam's national stature, while promoting patriotism, national unity, self-reliance, and national pride. The events also affirm the determination of the entire Party, people, and army in building, defending, and developing the country.
He requested that the celebrations and parades be organized solemnly, economically, efficiently, practically, and safely, with clear priorities.

The general secretary noted that Hanoi will see a large influx of domestic and international tourists during this period, particularly around the key dates. There will be high demand for accommodation, food, transportation, and participation in National Day events. Therefore, the Central Steering Committee and Hanoi authorities need to prepare various reception plans to ensure smooth operations, even in unfavorable weather conditions.
According to the Central Commission for Propaganda and Education, preparations for the celebrations and parades are underway, progressing as planned. Rehearsals for the parade are also being conducted diligently.
Key infrastructure projects, including land clearance, renovation and expansion of Ba Dinh Square, decoration of the platform area, and construction of spectator stands, have been completed.
In August 1945, the general uprising successfully seized power across the country within 15 days, leading to Vietnam's independence after nearly 100 years of French and Japanese rule. On 2/9, at Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming to the people and the world the birth of the independent and free Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
In preparation for the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on 2/9, various forces are actively rehearsing. Six forces are expected to participate: the traditional torch procession and honor guard; the artillery salute; the air force flyover; the parade; the background formation; and the formation spelling out words and shapes.
The parade itself will consist of 4 ceremonial blocks; 43 blocks representing the armed forces (26 army blocks, 17 police blocks), including a foreign military block; military artillery vehicles and special police vehicles; a naval parade; 12 civilian parade blocks; and a cultural and sports village block.
The background formation will include the platform honor guard, 11 army blocks, and 7 police blocks.
