On 16/8, Party General Secretary To Lam published an article commemorating 80 years of the Vietnam People's Police. He emphasized that 80 years of development, combat, and growth have affirmed the revolutionary nature and resilient fighting spirit of the People's Police force.
From its inception and throughout the two resistance wars against France and the US, the police force has always maintained close ties with the people. In coordination with the army and other forces, it has effectively served as a core and driving force in protecting security, order, and revolutionary achievements, safeguarding the Party and the people, and combating all types of crime for the sake of the people's peaceful and happy lives. The police have achieved numerous feats and quiet yet "extremely glorious achievements, making significant contributions to the cause of national liberation and reunification."
During the period of renovation, industrialization, modernization, and proactive international integration, the police have exemplarily spearheaded the effective implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws. They have firmly maintained security and order and actively participated in socio-economic development, caring for the people's lives.
"Under any circumstances, the People's Police force has always upheld the spirit of dedication and readiness to sacrifice for the country and the people. Tens of thousands of examples of courage and sacrifice for the cause of national security, ensuring social order and safety, have dedicatedly fulfilled their duties day and night," the general secretary wrote.

According to the general secretary, the entire country is currently striving to implement the Party's strategic guidelines with the determination to firmly lead the nation into a new era of development, prosperity, and affluence. The "territorial arrangement" revolution, simultaneously operating two-level local governments in 34 localities across the country, opens up new development spaces and driving forces. It also presents new requirements for the task of protecting security and order.
"In this era of national advancement, the responsibilities of the People's Police force are heavy but incredibly glorious," the general secretary wrote. He requested that under all circumstances, the absolute and direct leadership of the Party over the People's Police force in all aspects must be ensured. The working-class nature and close ties with the people must be constantly strengthened.
The general secretary emphasized that the Party's leadership is an immutable principle, an objective requirement, and the decisive factor in all victories of the cause of protecting security and order. The police force needs to constantly maintain close ties with the people, sharing the joys and hardships with them, and being ready to sacrifice to save the people. They should care for, consult, and promptly address the difficulties, obstacles, thoughts, and legitimate aspirations of the people, truly becoming "a pillar of peace for the people."
The People's Police force must fulfill the high mission of protecting the Party and ensuring the successful implementation of its guidelines. Security and order must form the foundation for successful development. Protecting the Party in the current stage not only involves its leadership, governance, the socialist regime, the Party's foundation, ideology, viewpoints, guidelines, and policies, but also territorial sovereignty, borders, sea, and islands; handling crises and national emergencies; and repelling threats. It also involves ensuring the realization of the two 100-year goals. In the immediate future, the police need to ensure the success of Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Congress and the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

At the same time, the People's Police force must maintain its pioneering and exemplary role, taking the lead in implementing the Party's guidelines. This begins with the effective implementation of four strategic resolutions of the Politburo, including Resolutions 57, 59, 66, and 68. The force needs to promptly identify and propose solutions to address shortcomings and bottlenecks in mechanisms and policies. It also needs to prevent early signs of deviation, profiteering, and vested interests, neutralizing activities that sabotage the political system, policies, and laws.
The Party leader emphasized that the police need to focus on developing the security industry, which, together with the national defense industry, should "truly be the spearhead of the national industry." They should also vigorously deploy activities to create a data economy.
"Effectively implement the task of ensuring internal political security, economic security, cybersecurity, digital security, data security, connectivity security, social security, and security in strategic and key areas," the article stated.
In addition, the People's Police force needs to focus on building a clean, strong, regular, elite, and modern force. The force should integrate the study and following of President Ho Chi Minh's six teachings into its culture, making it a regular and practical activity that permeates the work and combat of every unit and every officer and soldier.
