An Giang Power Company has prioritized electricity supply from the 110/22 kV Nam Phu Quoc Substation via the 22 kV medium-voltage grid to agencies, armed forces, hospitals, clean water supply systems, telecommunications, and some residential areas. Currently, approximately 17,400 customers have had power restored, while over 12,000 households in the northern part of the island remain affected.
Phu Quoc currently relies on two submarine cables: the 110 kV Ha Tien – Phu Quoc and the 220 kV Kien Binh – Phu Quoc. However, these are not interconnected in a loop, leading to widespread power outages when one experiences a fault.
Phu Quoc, a special economic zone, is located 120 km east of Rach Gia and 45 km west of Ha Tien. It spans 570 km2 and has a population of nearly 160,000 people. The island is a popular tourist destination, attracting many domestic and international visitors. In the first 9 months of this year, Phu Quoc welcomed 6.5 million visitors, generating a total revenue exceeding 31 trillion dong.
