The 'For Children Living with Rare Diseases' virtual run, organized by Hope Foundation in collaboration with VnExpress newspaper on the vRace platform, has extended its registration period until 30/6. Launched on 28/2, the initiative aims to raise community awareness about rare diseases and generate funds for the treatment of affected children.
While the organizers closed individual and team achievement submissions on 31/3 for initial prize distribution, the registration remains open until 30/6. This extension allows more individuals to join and contribute to supporting children in need.
With a registration fee of 100.000 dong, all proceeds are directly channeled to the Hope Foundation. These funds cover hospital fees and provide essential medical support for children with rare diseases. Participants can run or walk anywhere at their convenience, with their achievements continuously recorded and accumulated via the vRace application.
To date, the run has attracted over 1.300 participants, logging more than 64.000 km and raising over 450 million dong.

Anh Trieu participates in the run. |
Among the participants is Bui Quang Trieu from Dong Nai, who typically laces up his running shoes after 18h each day, following his work at a polyclinic. He meticulously plans his weekly kilometers to ensure effective accumulation while preventing injuries. "My perseverance is driven not only by personal goals but also by the profound feeling that every kilometer I run contributes to helping children with rare diseases," shared Trieu.
Beyond individual registration, participants can form teams to compete together and foster a spirit of camaraderie. The achievements of each member are combined, creating a real-time updated team leaderboard.
Currently, Team AstraZeneca Vietnam and Nhi Trung Uong Hospital are vying for the top 1 position, each accumulating approximately 8.000 km from their members.
The run offers a total prize value of approximately 60 million dong. In the individual category, the top athlete will receive Mizuno brand sports shoes, distributed by Supersports, valued at 5 million dong. The second-place winner will receive headphones valued at 2 million dong, and the third-place winner will get a heart rate monitor valued at 1 million dong. Additionally, 10 individuals will receive consolation prizes, consisting of souvenirs from the program.

It is estimated that Vietnam has approximately 6 million people affected by rare diseases, primarily children, who require long-term treatment with substantial costs. More than just a sporting event, the 'For Children Living with Rare Diseases' run conveys a powerful message: these children are not alone in their battle against illness. Each completed kilometer is a practical action, contributing to offering hope to families persistently fighting rare diseases.
